The Triumphal Entry

Intro. to Easter and looking forward to it.
We celebrate Christmas, we celebrate Easter, but there is a greater event still to unwind, and God has it all planned out, and that is his second coming when he comes for his church.

Over the next couple of weeks, read:
Mark 11
Matthew 21
Luke 19 (No one has ever ridden on)
John 12

Mark 11:1-11
Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King
11 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples,
saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here.
If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back here shortly.’”
They went and found a colt outside in the street, tied at a doorway. As they untied it,
some people standing there asked, “What are you doing, untying that colt?”
They answered as Jesus had told them to, and the people let them go.
When they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks over it, he sat on it.
Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut in the fields.
Those who went ahead and those who followed shouted,
“Hosanna!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
10 “Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!”
“Hosanna in the highest heaven!”
11 Jesus entered Jerusalem and went into the temple courts. He looked around at everything, but since it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the Twelve.

Zechariah 9:9
Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
As Jesus approached Jerusalem, scripture says that Jesus wept over it and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes. 43 The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side. 44 They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God’s coming to you.”

We are not given many details about Jesus from his birth until his earthly ministry, except when Joseph and Mary accidentally left him in Jerusalem. Not that it’s not important, but rather what is more important were his last 3 1/2 years. Beginning with his baptism by John, to his wilderness temptations, his first miracle of turning water into wine at the wedding reception, all of his teachings and preachings, his many miracles. The gathering of his apostles and disciples. Many came but may left.

In Isaiah 9:6 And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. And of His kingdom, there shall be no end.
In Revelation 22:13 the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. – And of His kingdom, there shall be no end.
In other scriptures He is called “the Light of the World,” “the Lion of Judah,” “the Bright and Morning Star,” “the Way, the Truth, and the Life,” – And of His kingdom, there shall be no end.

During the short 3 1/2 years of Jesus’ ministry, very seldom did he proclaim his Lordship. He would perform miracles but would tell people not to tell others, but go show yourself to the priests and offer the sacrifice as given by Moses.
Now is the time to let people to know that he is the true king, the King of king and Lord of lords.
